Taichi for All Ages — Join Us Live at Met Live Pasay This March 28

If you have ever told yourself that Taichi is not for you — that it is too slow, too advanced, too old-fashioned, or simply not your thing — this article is for you. On March 28, 2026, Wushu Arena Philippines is bringing a free, open-to-all Taichi session to the GF Atrium of Met Live, Met Park, Pasay City, from 5PM to 7PM, and we want you there. What Is Taichi and Why Does It Work for Everyone? Taichi is a form of slow, deliberate movement rooted in Traditional Chinese Martial Arts. Unlike high-impact exercise, it places no stress on the joints, requires no prior fitness level, and can be practiced by children as young as four and adults well into their seventies and beyond. It improves balance, reduces stress, sharpens focus, and builds a quiet kind of strength that most people don't expect from a martial art. This is exactly why Taichi is one of the fastest-growing wellness practices in the world — and why we have made it a cornerstone of what we teach at Wushu Arena Philippi...

Movement is FOR EVERY BODY - Coach Arra Corpuz

Image
Movement Is for Every Body | Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz Movement Is for Every Body A personal essay on advocacy, coming back, and why I open my dojo to everyone — by Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz I want to tell you something I don't say often enough: I am differently abled. I have ADHD, anxiety, arrhythmia, and dyslexia. My six-year-old daughter has a better sense of direction than I do. And yet, movement has been the one constant that has held me together. I believe movement is for every body. Not just the agile. Not just the young. Not just the competitive. Every. Body. And I don't say that from a podium of perfect health and easy circumstances. I say it from the other side of the hardest years of my life. When I Threw Everything Away When the pandemic hit, I thought I was done with martial arts forever. I had been a Wushu competitor and Aikido black belt for years — but the lockdowns, the isolation, the grief, and the stil...

How to Choose a Legitimate Aikido School in Quezon City — What Every Parent and Student Should Know

Aikido is one of the most misunderstood martial arts in the Philippines — and unfortunately, that misunderstanding extends to how schools and instructors present their credentials to the public. If you are searching for an Aikido class in Quezon City for yourself, your child, or your family, this article will give you the exact questions to ask and the exact standards to look for before you commit to any school. The most important question to ask any Aikido school is this: Is your school affiliated with Hombu Dojo Japan? Aikido was founded by Morihei Ueshiba — known reverently as O-Sensei — and its world headquarters is Aikido World Headquarters, Hombu Dojo, located in Tokyo, Japan. Hombu Dojo is the single legitimate source of Aikido rank certification in the world. Any Aikido school, instructor, or organization whose ranks and certifications are not recognized by or traceable to Hombu Dojo Japan is not practicing legitimate, lineage-verified Aikido — regardless of what they call...

Why I Don't Let My Students Cram for UPCAT, ACET, or DCAT — And Why It Works

Every year, thousands of Filipino students make the same mistake when preparing for their college entrance examinations. They wait until two or three months before the exam — sometimes less — and then try to absorb years of material in a fraction of the time. They cram. And most of them pay for it. I have been coaching students for entrance examinations for over 18 years. I have seen every approach, every study style, and every outcome. And the single most consistent pattern I have observed across nearly two decades of teaching is this: the students who pass their dream schools are almost never the ones who crammed. They are the ones who started early. The UPCAT, ACET, DCAT, and USTET are not memory tests. They are reasoning tests. They measure how well you think, how quickly you process information, how accurately you read and analyze, and how confidently you apply mathematical and scientific concepts under time pressure. You cannot develop these skills in two months. You cannot speed...

What Is Taichi and Why Is It the Perfect Wellness Practice for Busy Adults in Quezon City

If you have ever walked past a park in the early morning and seen a group of people moving slowly and gracefully together — that is Taichi. And if you have ever thought "I want to try that someday" — this article is for you. Taichi — formally known as Taijiquan — is a centuries-old Chinese internal martial art practiced worldwide for its extraordinary health and wellness benefits. Unlike high-intensity workouts or competitive sports, Taichi is slow, flowing, and deeply meditative. It combines continuous movement with deep breathing and focused mental awareness — making it one of the most complete wellness practices available today. The World Health Organization and numerous medical institutions worldwide have recognized Taichi as one of the most beneficial forms of exercise for adults and seniors — particularly for balance, joint health, stress reduction, and cardiovascular health. Most fitness trends demand enormous time commitment, expensive equipment, or a level of physica...
