Wushu Arena Philippines Wins 24 Gold Medals at the 21st Hong Kong International Wushu Championships 2026

 Ten athletes from Wushu Arena Philippines competed at the 21st Hong Kong International Wushu Championships held from March 20 to 24, 2026 at Ma On Shan Sports Centre, Hong Kong SAR. The delegation — Diane Basa, Luis Basa, Anton Sesdoyro, John-T Duran, Phoebe Ragos Ty, Sha Liwanag, Trish Trinos, Luyi Corpuz, Arra Jeuneze Corpuz, and Ishy Tantiangco — entered 31 events spanning Taichi, Modern Wushu, and Traditional forms, competing against international athletes from across Asia and beyond.



A Historic Medal Haul

When the final results were tallied, Wushu Arena Philippines had earned 24 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals — one of the most decorated performances in the team's international history. The breakdown by division was as follows: the Taichi division, which included Taijiquan 24-form, Chen Style, Taijijian 32 Sword, and Taijishan Duilian Fan Duo, yielded 9 gold medals. The Modern Wushu division contributed 6 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. Traditional Barehand Forms and Weapons — covering Staff, Broadsword, Double Daggers, Nunchucks, and more — delivered an outstanding 9 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.

In addition to the medals, Wushu Arena Philippines received the Overseas Communications Ambassador Award, recognizing the team's role in promoting Wushu culture internationally.

Building on a Strong International Record

This performance builds on an already exceptional track record. In previous international competitions, Wushu Arena Philippines secured 45 medals in Hong Kong and 21 medals at the Emei Cup 2025 International Wushu Competition in Chengdu, China. The 2026 Hong Kong campaign adds another significant chapter to the team's growing international presence.

The Coaches Behind the Team

The delegation was led by Head Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz, a two-time Excellent Coach Awardee from international competitions in Hong Kong and Chengdu (2025), Overseas Wushu Ambassador Awardee, and a competitor herself who has earned gold on the international stage. Assistant Coach Ishy Tantiangco, a four-time international gold medalist and accomplished Taichi performer, supported the team's preparation and performance throughout the competition. Team Leader Diane Basa coordinated the delegation on the ground.



Who We Are

Wushu Arena Philippines is based at Fisher Mall, 4th Floor, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, and holds classes every Saturday and Sunday, open to all ages and all skill levels. The school trains children as young as four, teens, adults, and seniors, with programs in Wushu, Traditional Kung Fu, and Taichi. No prior experience is required to join.

Wushu Arena Philippines is also an official member of the Martial Arts Coalition for Sustainable Development (MCS), a global coalition of over 80 organizations launched at the United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum, dedicated to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals through martial arts and community programming. This recognition reflects the school's long-standing commitment to inclusive, community-based martial arts that serves children, seniors, and students with special needs.
