Movement Meets Medicine: Coach Arra at St. Luke's BGC for National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Day 2026
This June, Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz joined the Institute of Pulmonary Medicine of St. Luke's Medical Center – Global City as the featured speaker and movement facilitator for their Tai Chi Energy Flow wellness demonstration, part of the hospital's celebration of National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Day 2026.
The event — centered on the theme Breathe Better, Move Better, Live Better — gathered patients, families, and healthcare professionals to explore the intersection of movement and lung health. Alongside a Chinese Painting Art Class under the "Art of Breathing" segment, the Flow of Energy Tai Chi Session brought the Arena Fitness Dojo approach to one of the most medically significant settings in the country.
Why Tai Chi in a pulmonary rehabilitation context?
Breathing is the first thing Tai Chi teaches you to notice. Every transition, every posture, every weight shift is a lesson in breath regulation — slow, intentional, and deeply diaphragmatic. For individuals managing chronic lung conditions, that's not just wellness. That's rehabilitation in motion.
St. Luke's chose Tai Chi not as a token wellness filler, but as a clinically aligned intervention. And that alignment is exactly what Arena Fitness Dojo has always advocated: that movement is not a luxury, it is a tool — accessible to every body, at every capacity.
This is the advocacy living in the real world.
Movement Is for Every Body — including bodies that are healing.
Patients who had never tried any form of martial arts or traditional movement practice found themselves breathing easier, moving with more intention, and — if the smiles in the room meant anything — feeling genuinely seen in a wellness space.
That's what inclusive movement looks like when it reaches the people who need it most.
To the team at St. Luke's IPM: thank you for recognizing that healing is not only clinical — it's kinetic. It was an honor to be part of this celebration, and a reminder of why this work matters beyond the dojo walls.
