Arena Fitness Dojo Advances SDG Advocacy Through World Environment Day Action, Mandaluyong Athlete Showcase, and TOUSA 2026 Recognition
June 2026 marked a defining chapter for Arena Fitness Dojo, Arena Aikido Club, and Wushu Arena Philippines. In a single month, the organization moved from community seminar rooms to government showcases to national recognition — weaving together environmental advocacy, public performance, and UN-aligned achievement into one cohesive statement about what martial arts can truly be.
This is the story of how a small but relentless dojo proved, once again, that movement is for every body — and for every cause that matters.
Your Body, Your Planet: Arena Fitness Dojo Joins the Global World Environment Day Campaign
When the Martial Arts Coalition for Sustainable Development (MCS) — the global UN SDG-aligned body of which Arena Fitness Dojo is the first and only Philippine member — issued its call to action for World Environment Day 2026, we answered with everything we had.
Under our custom campaign theme "Your Body, Your Planet," Arena Fitness Dojo launched a multi-phase mobilization from May 29 to June 5, 2026, proving that martial arts training is not just physical discipline — it is an active form of environmental stewardship.
We Hosted: The "Your Body, Your Planet" KALFI Workshop
On May 29, 2026, Arena Fitness Dojo opened the campaign by bringing movement and purpose to the next generation of young women.
At Linang, 10 Hilltop Street, Horseshoe Village, Quezon City, we welcomed incoming Grades 7 to 10 girls from the Kalinangan Youth Foundation (KALFI) Pathfinder Summer Camp for an interactive, beginner-friendly seminar combining Wushu for wellness and Aikido-based self-defense with practical environmental awareness.
The core message was simple: protecting yourself and protecting the earth come from the exact same mindset — awareness, responsibility, and care. These are not separate values. They are the same instinct, expressed differently.
The free workshop concluded with a live demonstration of Kung Fu barehands, Aikido duilian, and Wushu weapons — showing the girls how movement, when practiced with intention, flows in harmony with the natural world around us.
Supporting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), the KALFI workshop was more than a seminar. It was a declaration that girls who know how to move through the world safely are also girls who can move the world forward.
We Filmed and Posted: The Move For Nature Video Campaign
From June 1 to June 5, Arena Fitness Dojo took training out of the concrete dojo and directly into the open air. Coaches, senior practitioners, and young students filmed raw practice sessions in parks, gardens, and open spaces across Metro Manila — releasing each video in a carefully staggered sequence to build momentum toward World Environment Day on June 5.
The campaign told a complete story through movement:
Coach Ishy Tantiangco and Faith Dapon opened the series with the meditative, fluid flow of Tai Chi — stillness as strength, breath as practice. Ern Quero followed with the sharp focus and grounded precision of traditional forms. Sha Liwanag and Laurice Ricamara brought serenity through synchronized Tai Chi, their movements as unhurried as the wind. Reena Cabugao unleashed the explosive dynamism of Piguaquan, while Sia Villarosa and Diane Basa added the soaring energy of Modern Wushu. And at the heart of it all — the future itself: youth athletes Lemon Ricamara, Luyi Corpuz, and Armando Soriano Jr., proving that the next generation is already ready to inherit a healthier planet.
By June 5, Arena Fitness Dojo had told a cohesive, complete story across a curated Facebook Album and a series of Instagram Reels: from educating youth on May 29 to mobilizing an entire community across social media. The message was clear.
"We don't just train in nature. We train because of it."
Bringing Martial Arts to Mandaluyong: The Atletang Mandaleño Showcase
While Arena Fitness Dojo was amplifying its environmental advocacy, it was simultaneously answering another call — this time from the local government.
On June 1, 2026, Arena Fitness Dojo was invited to perform at the Atletang Mandaleño showcase by the City of Mandaluyong, a government recognition of athletes and sports organizations serving the community. The invitation itself was a signal: this dojo, rooted in inclusion and accessible movement, has earned its place among the city's recognized athletic institutions.
The team delivered a showcase that was equal parts discipline and artistry — barehand routines, duilian partner forms, and a weapons showcase set against the energy of K-pop, iconic Golden soundtrack from KPOP Demon Hunters, bridging traditional martial arts culture with the music that moves today's Filipino youth.
The performance was a reminder that Arena Fitness Dojo's athletes are not just competition medallists — they are performers, storytellers, and ambassadors of a movement culture that belongs to everyone.
This showcase came on the heels of the team's historic 2025–2026 international campaign: 96 medals across three major Asian Wushu circuits — the 20th and 21st Hong Kong International Wushu Championships and the Emei Cup in Chengdu, China — including two Excellent Coach Awards and the Overseas Communications Ambassador Award for Head Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz. The same athletes who stood on international podiums stood before their hometown community on June 1, bringing that excellence home.
TOUSA 2026 Luzon Finalist: National Recognition for a Movement Built on Inclusion
And then, quietly, the news arrived.
Arena Fitness Dojo has been named a Luzon Finalist for the Ten Outstanding UN SDG Awards (TOUSA) 2026: Recognizing the Changemakers of Tomorrow — presented by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth Philippines.
Being selected as a Luzon Finalist places Arena Fitness Dojo among the most recognized youth-led and community-driven organizations in the country advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The panel's recognition speaks directly to the heart of what this dojo has always been: a space where inclusive martial arts education meets measurable community impact.
The recognition acknowledges Arena Fitness Dojo's work across multiple SDGs — SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) — through programming that serves children with Down syndrome, ADHD, and Asperger's, senior citizens reclaiming their agility, persons with disabilities training as full athletes, and working adults finding their first experience of physical discipline.
The organization is also the first and only Philippine institution recognized by the Martial Arts Coalition for Sustainable Development (MCS), a global body operating within the United Nations ECOSOC framework — a distinction that anchors its community work within a verified international sustainable development network.
In April 2026, Founder and Head Sensei Arra Jeuneze Corpuz presented Arena Fitness Dojo's inclusive movement model as a Featured Project at the UN ECOSOC Youth Forum Virtual Side Event — bringing the Philippines' grassroots martial arts community to a global audience for the first time.
The TOUSA Luzon Finalist recognition is not just a credential. It is confirmation that what this dojo has been building — quietly, persistently, without external funding or institutional backing — has been seen. And it matters.
One Movement. One Mission.
What began as a small community dojo has grown into something larger than any single class or competition. Through programs serving children, working adults, senior citizens, neurodivergent learners, and persons with disabilities across multiple locations in Metro Manila, Arena Fitness Dojo continues to demonstrate that martial arts can be more than a sport — it can be a platform for health, education, environmental awareness, and sustainable development.
June 2026 was proof of that. A workshop for young women in Quezon City. A showcase for Mandaluyong's community. A national finalist recognition from a UN-aligned awards body. All in the same month. All from the same dojo. All driven by the same unwavering belief:
Movement Is for Every Body.
